TEHRAN (FNA)- Denmark's Ambassador to Tehran Anders Christian Hugard and Co-Chairman of Iran- Denmark Parliamentary Friendship Group Abbas Moqtadaei called for the expansion of bilateral ties and cooperation between the Iranian and Danish nations.

The remarks were made in a meeting held in Tehran on Sunday.

Moqtadaei expressed the hope that enhanced cultural relations would lead to expansion of parliamentary relations between the two countries.

To attain the goal, it is incumbent upon both sides to explore and identify untapped potentials and capabilities in various fields, he said.

Constructive, effective and friendly talks bring mutual understanding between the two nations and prepare grounds for expansion of bilateral relations, Moqtadaei pointed out.

Hugard, for his part, termed formation of Iran-Denmark parliamentary friendship group as significant and effective to develop relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The current cooperation in the field of culture, tourism, science and academic exchanges are satisfactory, he said calling for boosting ties.

The ambassador expressed the hope to witness expansion of parliamentary relations and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Late in 2011, Hugard voiced pleasure in the "good cultural and trade ties" between the two countries, and said Tehran-Copenhagen relations are developing.

Speaking to FNA on the sidelines of the 18th Media and News Agencies Exhibition in Tehran, the Danish envoy said, "At present, the two countries have good cultural and trade ties and I intend to promote these relations."

He reiterated that "there is not impediment to the further boosting of the relations between Tehran and Copenhagen", and said issues and differences of the past should not be brushed up.

"The presence of Iran's current ambassador in Denmark and the large number of the Iranian students studying in my country indicate the two sides' interest in developing relations," the diplomat underscored.
